Diabetes is a growing health concern in the United States, affecting about 24 million adults and children. Without proper care, diabetes can lead to dangerous complications, including heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, blindness and amputation.

Management of diabetes is critical to maintaining patient health and FMC Campus is here to help.

The focus of FMC Campus’ Diabetes Education Center is on patient education and self management so that patients can improve their quality of life, stay healthier and reduce their chances of developing long-term complications.

Patient treatment plans and programs are developed to suit each patient’s unique needs. Our goal is to help patients commit to managing their diabetes properly so that they can thrive despite their disease.

Our patients will learn about key components in managing their diabetes, including:

  • Blood sugar monitoring
  • Exercise
  • Medication management
  • Nutrition Preventative health measures for managing acute or long-term complications
  • Stress management Understanding diabetes

Our team of nurses, pharmacists, dieticians, behavioral health specialists and social service workers use a multi-disciplinary approach to help patients manage their disease.

Patients can also take advantage of all of the other resources at FMC Campus, including access to specialists in wound care, podiatry, pain management and physical and occupational therapy.

Diabetics are particularly vulnerable to developing non-healing wounds. These wounds can result in serious infections, and sometimes in amputations or even death.
